Ginger is a popular ingredient in cooking, and especially in Asian and Indian cuisine. It has also
been used for thousands of years for medicinal purposes. The root or underground stem
(rhizome) of the ginger plant can be consumed fresh, powdered, dried as a
spice, in oil form, or as juice.
Cumin is the dried seed of
the herb Cumin-um cyminum, which is a member of the parsley family.
The flowering plant belongs to the family Apiaceae, and it’s native from the east Mediterranean to India. Cumin is loaded with
potassium, iron and dietary fiber. Cumin seeds also contain small amounts of
vitamin C, E and K. Cumin can help eliminate body fat and decreasing unhealthy
cholesterol levels.
All you need is one tablespoon of cumin seeds
(either whole or powdered) and add it to 500 ml of water. Bring this water to a
boil and let it reduce to half its volume (approximately 250 ml- one glass). If
you wish to enhance the flavour of this drink, you can add cinnamon and
cardamom with a dash of lemon juice (freshly squeezed). Strain this combination
and have this as your morning drink for ten days for best results. Follow this
up with a minimum of 45 minutes exercises and proper diet.
The combination of cumin and
ginger will help you increase your metabolism, a prerequisite if you wish to
lose weight. Increasing your metabolism will help burn more calories as your
activity during this day will be fuelled properly. Other than this, this
combination will also help reduce cravings and hence prevent you from
unnecessary and unhealthy binging.
